I was born in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. In 2003, when I was 15, my parents and I moved to Moscow. I got involved in actionism, organizing the first flashmobs in Moscow. I also remotely started a flashmob movement in Uzbekistan.

Since childhood I dreamed of working in television – recording interviews on audiotapes, drawing comic strips. In 2005, still without citizenship, I enrolled at the Institute of Journalism and Creative Writing. During my first year I wrote a series of 10 stories about death, sex, drugs and overconsumption, under the guidance of professors Evgeny Zharinov and Vitaly Babenko.

At the same time, I tried every way I could to get on the set to see the film and TV kitchen with my own eyes. I went to the Mosfilm entrance hall just to be near this great place and found the phone number of the lead actor of the crowd scenes there. So my brother and I starred as hippies in Garik Sukachev’s legendary film “House of the Sun”.

Some time later I found myself on the set of the TVC talk show “Scandalous Life with Olga B.” on ТВЦ channel. Watching the work of the team as an ordinary viewer, I realized that I wanted to work with these people. It was the end of 2007.

Right after the shoot, I went to the hostess and told her I wanted to work with them. She introduced me to the producer, who offered me a job right after the New Year holidays. I worked for the first two months for free and then my colleagues in the newsroom (who had taken Teffi on at the time) talked to the producer and I was put on a contract basis. Because I didn’t have any citizenship, I had to find a front man for my papers.

Working as a talk show editor, I learned how to easily talk to stars, politicians, and other story characters.

A few years later, I decided to start working with musicians I was interested in (it was in my goals in my diary) and wrote on Facebook to Dmitry Spirin (lead singer of the band Tarakany!). I offered to shoot a promo video for the band for the upcoming concert. He didn’t answer right away, so I had to meet him in person at one of his rock parties at the Ikra club and explain how I could be of help.
At that time I had an understanding of how TV works, but I had studied camera (composition, lighting, etc.), editing (adobe premiere) myself. I did not have a portfolio, but I had a great desire to make music videos.
clips. In the end, after working together, I was offered to make a music video for their new song. Subsequently, my next music video for T! would become the most popular in the band’s biography.

Later the singer offered me to be the director of her music video project for the song she calls her favorite – “I Will Live”. It is a documentary clip about four characters who move around in wheelchairs, but despite this achieve their goals and live life to the fullest. The clip has received an incredible amount of feedback and appreciation for inspiration and hope.

A few months later Alexander Krasovitsky (lead singer of Animal Jazz) called me, invited me to the sound check, showed me the new song and asked if I wanted to make a music video for it. I knew that he broke up with Marina (MakSim) some time ago and this song was dedicated to her. According to Sasha’s words, this clip exactly reflected his state of mind during one of the most uneasy times in his life and became one of the golden collections of the band.

The budget was small – we were able to pay the rent of the location for one shift, the rent of the camera, the lenses, and the actors’ fees. I made the props myself, and my girlfriend cooked the food for the crew-all classic. The frames of the music video with one of the brightest Russian models in the world Kira Dice, with whom I became close friends, are still my calling card.

Chuck Berry.

Harold Apter.

I believed in the power and uniqueness of my film idea and started contacting the most important people in the ballroom dancing industry to arrange interviews. I realized that my money wasn’t enough to make a full movie, so I started a crowdfunding campaign where I sold a minute of time in the film for $10k. All in all $50,000 was raised through negotiations and sales. All of this was in English, of course.

Mary Murphy (cудья шоу “So you think you can dance” на канале Fox) предложила нам провести премьеру фильма под Рождество, на одном из крупнейших конкурсов бальных танцев Америки, организатором которого она является.

Disartive family.

At that time I was renting an apartment with Nikolay Stravinsky (lead singer of Selfieman and guitarist of Tarakany!) and Max Gnu (manager of Noize MC and Monetochka) in the center of Moscow, so I was in the epicenter of the rock party and in parallel among the members and crew of legendary shows Dom-2 and Dancing on TNT, where I worked. Together with Sasha Rock-n-Roll (leader of the punk band Kerosin) we organized and filmed interviews (or just hung out) with rock legends – Johnny Rotten (Sex Pistols), Ramones, Misfits, NOFX and even Chuck Berry.

Together with the legendary Natasha Klimchuk and Olga Morozova in 2016 we launched the largest online school for artists Bang bang education (before it became mainstream).

For three years I collaborated with the Russian representative office of the Warner Music label. Together with Natalya Martus and Vladimir Yurchenko we developed WOW TV Youtube channel from scratch, which allowed me to work with Russian stars such as Bianca, Artik & Asti, but most importantly – with world stars: Linkin Park, Scooter, Woodkid, James Blunt, Bob Sinclar, Gerard Way, Clean Bandit, Alex Hepburn and others. I’ve been in their dressing rooms, on stage, in hotels, and of course in the best seats during concerts.

One of the most important periods in my development was taking a course for writers and directors at the University of Southern California Cinematic Arts and Amedia with Professor David F. Howard and screenwriter Harold Apter.

In January 2016, I flew to New York City to learn how to operate a camera crane. There I accidentally got into the ballroom dancing industry, which I started making a documentary about with Yakiv Myronyuk. I really wanted to do an “American” project while I was in the country and it seemed like a promising topic. I didn’t have a single feature in my portfolio at the time, so I thought it would be a great chance to make my debut.

I believed in the power and uniqueness of my film idea and started contacting the most important people in the ballroom dancing industry to arrange interviews. I knew my money wasn’t enough for a full-length film and started a crowdfunding campaign where I sold a minute of film time for $10k. All in all, $50,000 was raised through negotiations and sales. All of this was in English, of course.

During the film I interviewed the best and legendary dancers, millionaires, stars of American TV show “Dancing with the Stars” and even Arnold Schwarzenegger became a hero of one of the stories. I visited 15 U.S. cities on both coasts. Mary Murphy (judge on Fox’s “So you think you can dance”) suggested that we premiere the film on Christmas Day, at one of the biggest ballroom dancing competitions in America of which she is the organizer. So the premiere took place at the legendary Luxor Casino Pyramid in Las Vegas. But instead of me there was my cardboard copy, because I decided not to violate the U.S. migration regime and returned to Russia.

Since my return from the U.S. in late 2017, I have been working as a director in my own production, collaborating with Sasha Gudkov’s production company Chiken Curry as a documentary filmmaker. I’m developing the scripts for two feature films, for which I took a scriptwriting course at the higher film school Arka, supervised by Timur Bekmambetov.

Lately I’ve been spending a lot of time immersing myself in the contemporary art scene with Sense Gallery and building a career as an NFT artist with the Disartive family.
